my question is if his mother knew this, and knew he had political aspirations, why didn't she tell him eariier? Probably because it isn't relevant. Should someone with political aspirations be "warned" that his grandfather was Jewish? What difference does it make?

most people want to know everything about themselves when they prepare for public service. does it matter? only when you seem to be surprised. then you look stupid. what matters is the blindsiding, not that he has Jewish ancestry. the biographies now need to be re-written and precious campaign time is down the drain. yes, its costly to look like a trout out of water.
