My wife talked with her brother last night. What's going on in the capital has changed the TV stations (news coverage has been suppressed for now), but things are very normal, people are going on with their lives. It appears that the King is going along with the coup-makers with the proviso there be new elections within weeks and a new constitution next year. But, from my perspective sadly, Thaksin Shinawatra, the pro-American PM is out. Supposedly the new acting PM, Gen. Sondhi (who is supposed to be a "moderate" Muslim) is pro-US as evidenced by his support for the US Cobra Gold exercises every year. We will all need to see what he does...
Gen. Sondhi is a moderate Muslim....very interesting, if not disturbing.
