Steve Irwin's Memorial Service to Air on Animal Planet
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, FROM 9-10 P.M. ET/PT. Get a reminder!
(Silver Spring , MD) Animal Planet is airing Steve Irwin's memorial service exclusively in the U.S., commercial-free, on Tuesday, September 19, from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, with an encore broadcast airing 12-1 a.m. ET/PT. The memorial service, entitled Steve Irwin: He Changed Our World, will be a same-day broadcast (with a two-hour delay) of the event Wednesday morning in Australia.
The public memorial service for the beloved animal conservationist and television personality is being held in the "Crocoseum," a 5,500-seat stadium at Irwin's Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Australia. Members of the Irwin Family, as well as Irwin's long-time friend and producer, John Stainton, are expected to speak. Celebrities and dignitaries worldwide are expected to attend.
Terri looks devastated. God bless her. I'm thankful she has good friends around her.
John Stainton
Poor Terri looks like she's been crying her heart out....that must be so hard on her....such a tragedy...
I could do without the celebrity stuff. But otherwise I think he would have liked it.....so far. Very unique.
Wopw I just checked and Animal Planet is on my TVUplayer!
You just want to reach through the TV & put your arms around her. It's heartbreaking.
Do you know Karen, is the ceremony religous in nature?
I liked what he did, but didn't really follow him all that much. (Odd... after being a naturalist for so many years at our local park.)
Still... seemed like a good guy.
I think of all the men and women serving our country, in harms way, and pray for them constantly. They are the guardians of our nation.
Allows me to keep things in perspective, I guess.
Blessings to his family.
I just figured him out, he was Peter Pan in the Animal world.........an envious position to have.
They already had a formal I'm assuming religious service for family
I believe in soul mates. They rarely happen, but when they do, the joy is immense, but the grief is awful.
I feel for Terri. But Bindi, there is something about that girl...her Daddy loved her so much....she is for sure going to follow in his shoes.
love this song!
It's rerun Weds at midnight.
So far, no. I think this is more of a public memorial/tribute service at his zoo. Not sure of his funeral services.
Right now they are singing about sheep, kangaroos...in typical Aussie fashion!
I liked what he did, but didn't really follow him all that much. (Odd... after being a naturalist for so many years at our local park.)
I've been catching a lot of the reruns, he was amazing. You won't regret it, especially with the work you've done with nature. He was something else.
We do have a nice memorial up for him in our school. It's nice to see. The kids enjoy reading about him, and seeing the pictures.
He made everyone appreciate nature a little more.
I've been around the world a couple of times or maybe more
I've seen the sights I've had delights, on every foreign shore
But when me mates all ask me the place that I adore
I tell them right away
Give me a home amongst the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
A clothes line out the back, verandah out the front,
and a old rocking chair.
You can see me in the kitchen cooking up a roast
or Vegemite on toast, just you and me, a cup of tea,
And later on we'll settle down and mull up on the porch,
and watch the possums play.
Give me a home among the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo,
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair.
There's a Safeway up the corner, and a Woolies up the street
a brand new place they've opened up where they regulate the heat
but I'd trade them all tomorrow for a simple bush retreat,
where the kookaburras call.
Give me a home among the gum trees
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair
Some people like their houses with fences all around
others live in mansions, and some beneath the ground
But me, I like the bush, you know with rabbits running round,
and a pumpkin vine out the back
Give me a home among the gum trees,
with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo
a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front
and an old rocking chair (Rpt chorus)
Steve's Dad, Bob
Dad Bob is speaking.
Love the Aussies.
I'm crying now reading this thread, and being reminded. I loved Steve and his family (human and animal)
