I did find this through google:
South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon has emerged as the leading candidate of two straw polls by members of the Security Council, but that does not mean much in the byzantine world of UN politics. In the last poll he received 14 out of a possible 15 votes, which "encouraged" him, which was two better than in the first round of voting.
India's Shashi Tharoor, currently Under-Secretary-General for Information, ran second, with 10 "encourage" votes, the same as the first round.
Initial word is that he's well respected in Korea and has worked with the UN and other nations for some time.
That could be a lot of nothing.
