Medved is very sensitive about immigration because his grandfather barely got into the country. We're living in different times now, however. I know a boatload of Republicans and many center Dems - some whose work is in danger of being insourced - who would vote for Tancredo in a heartbeat. As far as the Left-wing of the Dems, who cares?- you'll never get their vote and wouldn't want it anyway. And unlike Buchanan, Tancredo is very pro-Israel.
I never bent to that wind, I liked Goldwater when I was but a wee lad. My grandmother told me that he was right about Vietnam and the Soviets, that was good enough for me. She raised 8 children, with my granddad either out carousing(he was a rounder in the parlance of the day) or dead (he died when the oldest was 16). She practically stared a hole in me, when I asked if she was on welfare as a single mother. She said "NO, I would not take their money, there were others who needed it more". She was the school teacher, Postmistress, cooked for a ranch (along with her daughters) and took in sewing. SHE was my hero, and I would be willing to bet that she would LOVE Tancredo.
The strangest thing is, ALL 6 of her daughters, are hardcore liberal voters, while believing the same things she espoused. Something about Dims being the party of the working man.
Somebody on the right needs to address that perception, and we would have this ship of state back on course in no time.
