No, but I have probably spent enough hours in the private study of it to get one.

IQ is at least 2 things: an imperfect measure of Spearman's g, and a test result. To an extent one is talking about g, it is essentially not malleable by education, or is malleable very little, especially as the student age increases. To an extent it is a test, its results are malleable by coaching to the test. Yes, in the middle IQ range one could- by extensive coaching to the test- increase one's results by 10-15 points. And this result would not change the testee's g one iota, but will merely happen in the "imperfect measure" envelope, and will increase the measure of imperfection with which IQ of that person relates to the g. We do not have much better g measures than IQ, and so it became a shorthand.

"I well recall the uproar when Jensen revealed the findings in his study of IQ and race,"
Then check Rushton's oeuvre.

ok, so you said what I did only more scientifically/ intellectually! A fluctuation of 10 pts on an IQ test can reflect any number of factors but your basic intelligence just doesn't change. Anyone can test from the low to high end of his/her limited range.

Well, then test repeatedly [using radically different test formats, to avoid the "coaching" distortion] and average the results. Given enough effort, it is possible to get to it. The thing is, that the result [in its applied form] is already known intuitively - from "Wow!!!" to "Wow..." - from a blinding genius to an equally stupendous idiot, people usually get, whom they are dealing with, pretty fast. IQ is merely a means to codify it. For example, GWB. According to MSM- well, unprintable. According to the testimony of those knowing him and his family - both GWB and his mother have excellent sense of humor and are frequently cracking impromptu jokes. Which puts their g-equivalent IQs above 130-140.

"A reasonably but not super smart person can become a billionaire, while a reasonably but [not] super athletic person can flip burgers" A reasonably bright person will do in life reasonably well, or maybe even better than that. [there will be lucky outliers and the conspicuous failures as well - but let us average them out]. This is what it [he/she] IS LIKELY TO become [see the "Bell Curve" for the analysis of the national longitudional survey data].

Sorry for the html editing/posting error on my first attempt. here's the corrected text:
"A reasonably but not super smart person can become a billionaire, while a reasonably but [not] super athletic person can flip burgers"
Good point, but rhetorically exaggerated in the first half, and poorly formulated. What one CAN become is irrelevant [one CAN win a jackpot]. The point is what one IS LIKELY TO become, - i.e. the outcome probability.

With Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the drive by hustlers in the headlines, I think they have a point. Black America's problem is not one government will be able to fix. They are largely self-created. Whether that gets the critics off the Black Community's back remains to be seen. With progress and equality also comes a sense of responsibility rather than blaming everything that goes wrong in this country on Da Man.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus

I agre that the first step is a real self reflection on the part of the black community to exorcise the internal demons from their midst. All you have to do is go to MYspace, type in a ghetto school, and see how pathetic the state of young black America is today.
Yet there is a flip side to the issue. There ARE segments of whites in this country who are true haters. All you have to do is go to the rants and raves sections on craigslist to see these idiots in full effect.
Things are much better than when I was growing up in the Sixties and had to listen to drunk uncles yapping about"niggers and Jews ruining America".Yet those feelings still linger but are not nearly as vocal as they were when I was growing up.

But that's enough to make up the difference in the average IQ's of various races, which is my original point.

BTW, my own IQ went up 27 points from gradeschool to college, and I tested well even in gradeschool.

BTW, I was the only conservative and Republican student in my major and most in my classes were well aware of it. After I voted for Reagan, I just couldn't wait to get to class to tell everyone.
