I will refer you to a publication. It is by Professor Alan Dershowitz. It is called "The Vanishing American Jew".

I also became aware while in Toronto of an American expatriate. He was Rabbi Feinberg. Abraham L Feinberg born in Ohio. Hardly anyone in that politically correct city, dare argue with the Rabbi. He believed integration would be the death of the Jewish diaspora.
