Toronto For the 15th consecutive year, the Toronto International Film Festival welcomed an international FIPRESCI jury. FIPRESCI is the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (the International Federation of Film Critics).
The Prize of the International Critics (FIPRESCI Prize) goes to DEATH OF A PRESIDENT from the United Kingdom directed by Gabriel Range, for the audacity with which it distorts reality, to reveal a larger truth. DEATH OF A PRESIDENT is a fictional drama with a unique premise, told in the style of a retrospective documentary, which offers a critique of the contemporary US political landscape.
The FIPRESCI Jury at the 31st Toronto International Film Festival:
Klaus Eder, FIPRESCI - Germany - Jury President Géza Csákvári, Nepszabadsag - Hungary Esin Kücüktepepinar, Sabah - Turkey Oscar Peyrou, Agencia EFE Norman Wilner, Metro Toronto - Canada
We are all aware how the Clinton Group forced ABC to remove frames of their involvement in the docudrama, Path to 9/11.
What would Clinton have done if Chicago-filmed "Death of a President" was scheduled to be shown in the US during his Presidency especially following the timeframe of the airstrike on Afghanistan(Singled out by Albright that her portrayal in the Pathway to 9/11 was highly objectionable!)?
"Definitely a must see film for terrorists, students and professors who Just Hate America, and especially those caught up in the Columbine-like "wannabee phenomenon", the review should read.
I'd like to know if this brit guy could have made the same movie but have Blair being assinated. I know that England doesn't have the same free speech laws we do so I am curious to know if he would have been arrested for giving the same treatment to his own prime minister?
Blame Canada.
When speech is free, idiots reveal themselves. This is how it should be.
Shame on Britain.
Shame on Canada.
But it's just another day in Bush Derangement World.
This movie, like so many at this Film Festival, received LOUSY reviews. The award is for the message, period. These film festivals have become bad jokes.
Wow, that's a real shocker. Who would have thought that BDS snuff porn would find itself so critically acclaimed?
This world is f-cking doomed.
Like other awards these days. Such as the Nobel Peace Prize. I fully expect Castro to get that posthumously. And soon, I hope!
Sean Penn's new movie, the remake of ALL THE KING'S MEN got HORRIBLE reviews, mostly that it was terribly miscast!!!!
Wow, powerful tagline material there!
Gee, I hope everyone looked surprised when it won the award.
Yeah, but I am committed my tag-line that I have been using since June through Election Day. I wouldn't want anybody to think I was backing off my predictions...
Because I'm not...
We're gonna kick butt and take names in November.
American made: Filmed in Chicago.
Gee, if Hillary wins in '08, will they make a film about her assassination? Goodness no. Probably they'll be too busy with payola -- remember a few years back when Hill admitted she was a bag lady? People she barely knew gave her money to stuff in a bag.
These people are so predictable. The most left-wing piece of propaganda will win the prize. You can count on it.
