Some Showbiz Dems Feel Used By Arnold
LA Weekly/ Deadline Hollywood Daily ^ | September 6th, 2006 | Nikki Finke

I'm told some Hollywood Democrats are furious they've been "outed" by Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign. On Friday, the Los Angeles Times, in what was tantamount to a press release for Ah-nuld, presented the laundry list of Hollywood Dems who have joined Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Haim Saban in the turncoat category for giving money to Schwarzenegger.

But what the paper didn't report was that the Guv's campaign and/or its surrogates contacted many of these contributors and asked to use their names. And I'm told some of these Hollywood types said absolutely not. The main reason was that they didn't want to lose their street cred with the party as Democratic activists. A few also claimed that they weren't supporting Schwarzenegger for his politics but rather for his personal favors.

Spielberg et al must have been taking a lot of heat for such a CYA.

During TV interviews, more than a few
Hollywood Republicans repeatedly
tell us there are more Reps in the
Movie Capital than you might think.
But the desire to continue receiving
WORK CALLS in front and behind the
cameras depends on one's political
alignment.

They need to calm down. Yes, he has a check mark on his voter registration card next to the word Republican. Fortunately for them though, he's as liberal as the next Hollywood Democrat. They are all on the same team. He needs to send in his lesbian chief of staff who is a former Executive Director of the Democrat Party. She can wave her NARAL resume and point out that they have nothing to worry about.

Welcome to the club.

The Austrian Pretender has been using the CAGOP's name freely since October 2003 when only about 1/3 of the registered Republicans in California authorized its use.

Underestimated in this whole sorry business has been the incredible influence behind-the-scenes of Andy Spahn, the former DreamWorks political advisor who recently went out on his own. A long-time Democratic stalwart, Spahn agreed to steer dollars from fat cat Hollywood Dems towards the Guv's coffers.

What's next? Tom Hayden for Arnie?
Spahn (along with Susan Kennedy) used to work for Hayden's "Campaign for Economic Democracy" in the 1980s.

The Dems are pretty desperate, even in California. Yes, a great percentage of the voters here are Dem but most aren't part of the loony left. Most of my friends are liberal but are embarrassed by legislators like Sheila Keuhl (?sp., former Zelda Gilroy on Dobie Gillis and big gay rights activist). The only reason the Dems have so much control out here is that the Dem voters simply can't bring themselves to vote for a Republican. It's been ingrained in them, Republicans=evil.

This is the truth.

< /end sarcasm >

Notice the general trend here? Liberals are so "principled" that they could never in good conscience hire anyone other than a liberal. So, once a well meaning conservative intending to find the "best man or woman for the job" hires a liberal, and that liberal rises into management, no conservatives will ever be hired again. If Gore had "won" in 2000, every single election in America from that point on would have been "contested" and manipulated to achieve the "correct" result.

The line between American leftists and fascism is exceedingly thin. Ignore a person's words; watch how they live their lives and the decisions they make influencing other's lives, to know what they really intend.

Oh, I voted for him alright. I gave Arnie his chance, his "mandate". I actively worked for the recall of Davis.

What I didn't do, and what most of the voters who elected Arnie did not do, was authorize him to hire Gray Davis staffers for most of his appointed leadership posts. We didn't support Arnie to support (CA) unconstitutional deficit spending. We didn't vote for Gray Davis II.

I'll vote for the leading #2 candidate on the ballot after Arnie. If that's a Democrat, then he gets lucky on election day. I'm voting AGAINST Arnie, and I intend my vote to be meaningful. If the #2 candidate is an independent, or from the Constitutional or Libertarian parties, then they will get my vote.

What I will never do is vote for Arnie, NOR sit at home and give Arnie a defacto victory by disenfranchising myself. That's Arnie's greatest hope, that the GOP conservatives just stay home, and allow independents, "moderates", and disaffected Democrats to reelect him.

California Republicans who truly oppose Arnie running their party, who oppose the virtual Democrat take over of the GOP, will vote AGAINST Arnie. And those GOPers who call us "stupid" for our protest votes are simply shills for Arnold. They are his true supporters, using FR and other forums to rally moderate GOPers to his cause, and to depress the conservative vote.

Sorry, but that dog won't hunt.

"Would you sleep with me for a million dollars?"
"Why, of course!"
"How about for fifty bucks?"
"Of course not! What kind of girl do you think I am?"
"Oh, we've already established what kind of girl you are. Now we're just haggling over price."
