the drone was not armed and ordnance could not be brought to bear on that bunch quickly enough. Sounds like CYA to me. I don't see the purpose of the drone looking around if we aren't able to react to an event.

I don't like to think that but other have told me that fighters could have been scrambled in 15-20 minutes.
I think it may well have been against the Afghani rules of engagement that we are under.
