"I don't know if he was convicted but McLame is one of the keeting 5 scandel from the 80's. Never forget that!"

He was not convicted and the allegation was phoney to begin with. AND, I am NOT a McCain fan at all. He disgusts me!

Allegations in Keathing 5 were not phoney. McCain was just as culpable as John Glenn, but of course St. Glenn and the 3 others involved were all Dems in a Dem controlled body so McCain enjoyed the benefit of Dems running cover for him. In case you meant this was not a criminal case, that is true, and thus there were no criminal convictions, and really no formal hassles due to good ole boys network.

I don't recall the allegations being phony at all.  The briber (to McCain's bribee), Charles Keating, publicly said that he thought he was giving them a bribe in exchange for them intervening with regulators, which they all did.  McCain also did very much the same sort of things that Congressman Ney just pleaded guilty to doing. McCain's excuse was that they were all idiots and just didn't realize it was a bribe.

They got away with it because of that "brilliant" defense.  </sarcasm>
