I disagree with the gasoline price being the only or even most important element of this. As often as people have seen that, how many times does it have to be said--9/11 changed EVERYTHING? We've never seen a President with Bush's continued lukewarm popularity over so long keep Congress through a midterm AND his (close) re-election. If he keeps Congress in his party it, too, will be unprecedented for someone with his poll numbers.
That's not gasoline. It's 9/11.
Rush just said that he was up in a Washington Post poll as well.
NBC has a new poll showing Bush up from 38 to 42% among adults leaning so far to the left that they walk in circles.
