I am reminded of a very old SNL film from around 1983 or so. "Statistics show that in New York, a man is mugged every 11 seconds. I would now like you to meet that man."

Oh, it's definitely still in effect.
It cost me $250 to find out that 59, between Rankin and Greens Rds. are indeed considered City of Houston. Oh, and that the lot where my car was "towed" to wasn't too far out of the way, just at the corner of Rankin and the Southbound feeder.
*grumble*

I was born and raised in Houston and didn't move away until college. After college I came back and worked a couple years, then moved to Dallas (3 years) then Austin (2 years). I just moved back about 5 months ago and I am not going anywhere else for a long, long time.
I think a lot of people move because they want to see what else is out there, or because of a good job opportunity. Of the transplants I know, very few would consider moving out of Houston unless it was for money (a raise, or promotion) or a girl/guy, and I think the same thing could be said for those who are native to Houston.

"With major construction a constant presence that often squeezes lane widths and removes medians and shoulders, so there is no room to pull off in an emergency." That to me, seems a heck of a lot more reckless and irresponsible than this poor woman here. I remember when the stretch of 59 by the George R. Brown was under repair - 2 lanes each, North and South bound, all narrow enough to induce claustrophobia, and no shoulder, median, esplanade or ramp for an emergency stop.

You don't happen to work at AIM, do you? (I did, 1999 to 2002, and still have friends there.)

No I don't, but I do have a few friends that work with AIM now. One of my old HS buddies use to work with AIM about the time you did but left for another company in 2002, his name was S. Luck.
