The policy also prohibits the doctors from accepting free drug samples and publishing articles in science journals that were ghost written by corporate authors.I can see the last part, but banning free samples is going overboard. There were times when those free samples meant we didn't have to pare down the food budget to buy medicine.

Fee samples always helped the patients. This is another liberal control of YOUR life! However, if the doctor has a private office then tell Stanford to "Go to Hell!". I've provided medical technical support at Stanford and other facilities with the Open-heart teams. I know where the free samples go, and not to me!! Stanford is trying to tell the world that doctors are evil. Maybe they need to look in the mirror...
