And, should Chafee defeat his Democratic opponent, he will be a trustworthy vote to convict. The Senate has never really been GOP IMHO.

Chafee still caucuses with the GOP, and has voted for cloture on every filibuster.

Not defending him, but as some have pointed out, it is far more than his opponent will do if he wins.
