BTW, I did not know this: there was not even an indictment filed after the bombing of either Khobar Towers (1996) or the USS Cole (2000). Indictments were not filed until after Bush/Ashcroft came into office.

This is the greatest line in Ann's column! The only time Clinton did anything about terrorism was a means to distract from his impeachment.

...classic Democrat excuses for doing nothing in response to the Cole attack: * Attorney General Janet Reno "thought retaliation might violate international law and was therefore against it." * CIA Director George Tenet "wanted more definitive proof that bin Laden was behind the attack, although he personally thought he was." * Secretary of State Madeleine Albright "was concerned about the reaction of world opinion to a retaliation against Muslims and the impact it would have in the final days of the Clinton Middle East peace process." (How did that turn out, by the way? Big success, I take it? Everybody over there all friendly with one another?) * Secretary of Defense William Cohen "did not consider the Cole attack 'sufficient provocation' for a military retaliation."

Classic Ann Coulter. What I find amusing is that we knew that OBL was behind the embassy bombings in East Africa and WTC I. Why was the bombing of the USS Cole even relevant in terms of going after bin Laden? How many crimes must he commit before we go after him? If you know a fugitive is a serial murderer, why agonize over the latest crime before taking action?

Its trademark Ann Coulter sarcasm but it conceals an important point the Democrats miss: that if Bin Laden had committed a real crime, the Democrats might have finally nailed him. Then again, perhaps not. Which shows up the deficiency in their reliance on the legal process to make us safe from terrorists.
