Many Republicans prefer to let the Dems shoot themselves in the foot aka self-destruction rather than kick sand in their faces. I too would like to see more spine.

If this is true, Libby should sue Fitzgerald's a$$ off.

First off, Fitzgerald is protected by statute and cant be sued for his official duties. Second, Fitzgerald is within his rights to "ask" that a witness such as Armitage not talk. However, Armitage has rights guaranteed under the constitution to talk if he wants to, even though asked not to. So it all falls back on Armitage. It was his decision.

Proud to be on the record as excoriating Armitage from the start. The man harmed our President, our troops, and he has nearly destroyed Libby.

I'm with you on Armitage deliberately trying to harm the administration.

That damned 'yellow cake' story seemed to go on forever. It could have been stopped immediately if Armitage had told the truth.

Matthews has gone on the record as saying the story is too complicated to go into now. Hah, he's moved on to other slanders in his neverending effort to harm our President.

Well, I don't feel sorry for Plame/Wilson.

They got what they deserved for their nepotism and the corruption at the CIA.

Armitage is more than a weasel. As pointed out by David Frum at NRO, Scooter Libby was Armitage's personal defense attorney in Iran-Contra. Armitage is a scumbucket who should have his citizenship revoked and be deported to one of those Arab countries he loves so dear.

And Libby was attorney for Marc Rich who Fitzgerald was chasing.....!

To me, the only super scumbag in all of this is Fitzgerald. I expect all of the other players to act like they did.

Armitage needs to be charged. Libby needs to be let go. Armitage deliberately leaked this to several sources. I don't care if Valerie Plame was a janitor at the CIA, you don't go leaking CIA employees names to the media when you work in government.

I differ with many here who think that Valerie Plame was "too minor" to even need her identity protected. All CIA employees need protection. There are people who hate America and would love to kill even a janitor from the CIA. It's disgraceful what Armitage did.

Everyone in D.C. knew it was Armitage from the very beginning. And everyone in D.C. knew Pflame worked for the CIA. She told everyone, and those she didn't tell, her low life loser hubby told.

Well according to Wilson he said he went to the State Department to get their *OK* before he ever went to Niger. So hardly points the only finger to Val gal as being the culprit that got Wilson on this venture.

Wilson was an inside Clinton guy, helped Clinton on the Africa tour and was according to him NSA-Africa, so that would have made his connected to Richard Clarke.

Why must Republicans always meekly play defense?

Agreed.

Democrats are just domestic terrorists, and the appropriate strategy with terrorists is always offense.

Dealing with Democrats IS the War on Terror.

Dave, I always find your comments regarding this issue interesting. What do you make of it?

Not really sure. Could be something with Powell but I think maybe its something about Armitage's big ego. Perhaps he was miffed that Wilson was sent to Niger and got all the publicity without him knowing about it so he was getting back at Wilson for fact he was not kept in the loop?
