A bipartisan group of Michigan lawmakers wants all sixth-grade girls to be vaccinated against cervical cancer.
A Republican state senator who is the lead sponsor said it's the first legislation of its kind in the U.S.
The vaccine was approved by federal regulators this summer and hailed as a breakthrough in cancer prevention. The shots prevent infections from strains of a sexually transmitted virus -- human papilloma virus, or HPV -- that can cause cervical cancer and genital warts.
At the time, conservatives expressed concern that schools would require the vaccine for enrollment. They argue that such mandates infringe on parents' rights and send a message that underage sex is OK.
If approved, the measure would go into effect for the next school year.
The vaccine was approved for females between ages 9 and 26. In studies, it was credited with preventing disease from the two types of HPV that are responsible for approximately 70 percent of all cervical cancers, according to Detroit television station WDIV.
The legislator who proposed the requirement noted that, as with all other school-required vaccines, parents may opt out of this requirement for medical, religious or philosophical reasons.
The women's movement has certainly succeeded in creating a nation of sluts.
Promiscuity is an equal opportunity past-time.
communicated from males to females via sexual intercourse.
and from females to males and if you google some pics you can see the disgusting results in both sexes
...until it's mandated that jr high age girls must have this shot.
And it will be.
Try opting out your baby from HepB & other extraneous shots....
...good luck in finding a pediatrician to take you....
..good luck in public school entrance...etc.etc.
All they're going to do is create more resistant bacteria. Idiots.
Bacteria are completely different from viruses so it shouldn't have that result.
Additionally vaccines are completely different from antibiotics!
From what I understand, the vaccine is not effective when given later in life, when sexual activity is more appropriate.
I may be wrong, though.
..rather than force it on pubescent girls.
I guess you'll show HER. ;)
Utter nonsense.
Death from cervical cancer would certainly be a tough lesson for both the child and her parents....but then you gotta do what you gotta do.
I don't think it should be law, but all three of my daughters will have this shot when they go for their first gynological exam. Period.
>>>What is the logic of rejecting a treatment that prevent CANCER?>>>
What?? What do you mean?? This is not preventing cancer!! This is giving the go ahead for every girl in America to sleep with multiple boys daily until the age of 45!!! Don't you get it! By having a shot that can prevent cancer (which my mother died from BTW, cervical led to uterine, uterine led to ovarian, ovarian led to death and she had this virus and was NOT a SLUT) you will now let every boy and girl know that AIDS, Herpes, Syphlis and the rest no longer exists to no need for condoms. Just have sex willy nilly. /sarcasm.
The way freepers act about this shot makes me sick. My daughters will have the shot. I almost cried when I found out they had a vaccine for this virus. My mother was virgin when she married, my father had an affair. My mother died. But to hear freepers tell it, the ones that are stuck in 1875 anyway, my mother was a slut who deserved cancer.
I agree -- I'm having a hard time even finding any long-term studies to assure me that there are no future side effects WRT to fertility and childbearing.
>>>My daughters won't be getting it.>>>
Your decision, but sad for your daughters.
I just hope they live up to your ideal of perfection and decide to wait until they are 18 to have sex and DON'T become infected before they are old and WISE enough to get it on their own.
>>>What is the logic of rejecting a treatment that prevent CANCER?
Puritannical hogwash. If the situation was reversed, and men got cancer from HPV, the vaccine would have been mandatory the day it was developed.>>>
LOL!! You are right. But as it stands, the 'sluts deserve cancer' attitude here is sickening.
"The way freepers act about this shot makes me sick."
Please amend that to SOME freepers. Some of us do not feel that females deserve death for having sex.
>>>Even if a person trusts his daughter to behave, are you going to trust her fiance have been always abstinent? And unfortunately a woman doesn't always have a choice, as there is also the possibility of rape.>>>
Don't fight with logic!! Dang you!
Sluts deserve cancer.
>>>Death from cervical cancer would certainly be a tough lesson for both the child and her parents....but then you gotta do what you gotta do.>>>
You are one twisted individual.
I AM concerned at the lack of long-term studies to look at the potential for harm to my daughter's reproductive system and fertility. How awful would it be for an entire generatrion of young women (or two generations) to find out that they could not have children as a result of harm from this vaccine?
>>>"The way freepers act about this shot makes me sick."
Please amend that to SOME freepers. Some of us do not feel that females deserve death for having sex.>>>
You are correct. SOME freepers. I sure don't feel this way and feel most other Freepers are just as disgusted by this attitude.
