I believe when people actually voted and not some MSM poll, that Allen defeated Warner in a Senate race.

No. Allen and Warner have never run against each other.

1998 - Mark Warner challenged John Warner for the U.S. Senate and lost.

2000 - George Allen challenged Coke Robb for the U.S. Senate and won.

2001 - Mark Warner defeated Mark Earley for Governor.
