CONSPIRACY CRANKS. CREATING CRAZED '9/11 TRUTH'.

ON Feb. 7, 2005, I became a member of the Bush/Halliburton/Zionist/CIA/New World Order/Illuminati conspiracy for world domination. That day, Popular Mechanics, the magazine I edit, hit newsstands with a story debunking 9/11 conspiracy theories. Within hours, the online community of 9/11 conspiracy buffs - which calls itself the "9/11 Truth Movement" - was aflame with wild fantasies about me, my staff and the article we had published. Conspiracy Web sites labeled Popular Mechanics a "CIA front organization" and compared us to Nazis and war criminals.
For a 104-year-old magazine about science, technology, home improvement and car maintenance, this was pretty extreme stuff. What had we done to provoke such outrage?
Research.

Yeah, that was too close to home...
The Agents of The Dawn may find out where I live and investigate.

I knew this guy who I hate to admit is a fellow ORSA. He seriously believed the US Govt ordered McVeigh to blow up the building in order to incinerate a bunch of data that could have incriminated Bill and Hill concerning Whitewater. There are some genuine nut cases on the right as well. Here's the difference. The right wing outgrew that, and anyone who didn't was marginalized. But the 9-11 nutbars are a large component of the left wing nowadays, and they show NO sign of outgrowing it.

whats really sad is in a recent poll almost a third thought the government was responsible or allowed the 9/11 attacks to happen. That kind of thinking is giving aid and comfort to the real enemy!

I got 3 check marks, it was sort of like the teacher giving you star in elementary school. And then, faster than you can say 1984, I'm erased from existence. It's like it never happened, it's rumor now.
Not anything like being a star poster though.

I've got 2 questions for these brainiac moonbats
1) What is it you don't understand about Occam's Razor?
2) What is it you don't understand propoganda in wartime?
I know, I know, pointless, I'm just another shadowy figure passing disinformation...

Everyone knows the Clintons orchestrated 9-11 to impeach President Bush.
They couldn't believe that he wouldn't just blame some guy in Atlanta and go back to fornicating.

I have two follow up questions.
1) Will it cut my face less often than Schick's or GIllette's?
2) Will it get me a haying gig w/ Osauma Bin Rueters?

I believe the new editor's name is Winston Smith. He's ruthlessly efficient, though he has doubts.

Even FDR had to deal with his own brand of these loons - call it the "Pearl Harbor Truth Movement:"
Fireside Chat Number 20 - February 23, 1942
The consequences of the attack on Pearl Harbor -- serious as they were -- have been wildly exaggerated in other ways. And these exaggerations come originally from Axis propagandists; but they have been repeated, I regret to say, by Americans in and out of public life. You and I have the utmost contempt for Americans who, since Pearl Harbor, have whispered or announced "off the record" that there was no longer any Pacific Fleet -- that the Fleet was all sunk or destroyed on December 7th -- that more than (1,000) a thousand of our planes were destroyed on the ground. They have suggested slyly that the Government has withheld the truth about casualties -- that eleven or twelve thousand men were killed at Pearl Harbor instead of the figures as officially announced. They have even served the enemy propagandists by spreading the incredible story that ship-loads of bodies of our honored American dead were about to arrive in New York harbor to be put into a common grave.
Almost every Axis broadcast -- Berlin, Rome, Tokyo -- directly quotes Americans who, by speech or in the press, make damnable misstatements such as these.

I would guess that at least 75% of Americans nowadays believe that the assassination of JFK was a intricate conspiracy a la Oliver Stone.
It is officially "common knowledge" now.
I fear that one day it will be "common knowledge" that 9/11 was a conspiracy by the US government.
The lack of critical education is killing this country's collective braincells.

The loose change guys put together a really shabby, inaccurate movie and are now making a fortune on it because there are so many purposely ignorant people who will spend the $10 to $15 that is charged for the dvd. Actually, that's something we should all do.
There is no reason at all that moonbats should have any available disposable income.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but these 9/11 theories really make my blood boil. One guy I was "conversing" with on a forum stated that all the passengers from the four flights were taken to Cleveland Airport, loaded on a flight that skimmed a region in the North that's "dead" to radar, and destroyed over the Atlantic Ocean.
I like to ask these guys one question: How many people do you think were involved in this conspiracy and how do you account that not one of them has come forward or "leaked" anything. I mean, in this day where every sudo-celebrity has a book deal, a "Black Ops" member of the world's largest conspiracy would have all the publishers thwoing money at him to tell his story.

Had a rather funny run in with one of those 9-11 truth guys the other month. He was convinced that Rove/Bush/Haliburton had explosives that took down the towers because "the fire didn't melt the steel". I took the time to give him a basic course in metallurgy, fire fighting, and truss (sp?) construction. In which he said that I was an idiot who should smoke dope so I could see the "truth". Never mind that what happened to the Twin Towers is exactly what would happen to a building so constructed subjected to the heat of the fire.
Kind of gave up after that.
