Pelosi Statement on President Bush’s Speech on Fifth Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks
Washington, D.C.– House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Bush’s speech last night on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks:
“On the fifth anniversary of September 11, President Bush continued to try to justify the invasion of Iraq by drawing nonexistent links to the 9/11 attacks. To try to make partisan gain out of such tragedy dishonors all those we lost on September 11.
“In fact, the war in Iraq has made our effort to defeat terrorism and terrorists more difficult. Last night's speech demonstrated that the President will go to any lengths to distract attention from his failures in Iraq, which have diverted focus from the war on terrorism.
“Despite definitive and repeated findings that there were no ties between Iraq and al Qaeda, a finding most recently echoed by the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, the President and Vice President continue their misleading efforts to aggregate al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, Iraq, and 9/11.
“The American people deserved an opportunity to grieve and come together as a nation last night. Instead, President Bush gave them partisan and inaccurate rhetoric.”
This woman is totally out of touch with reality. God help us if she should ever become Speaker of the House.

Stop trying to start flame wars. It's not even relevant to the topic. Even the 100%ers are behind the President when it comes to the WOT.
The Dems are placing all their chips on the idea that Iraq has nothing to do with the WOT. If that idea turns out to be demonstrably false, they will be high and dry. So let them keep flailing away.
