Starting October second, Alabama motorists will have a choice in the standard license plate: the"Stars Fell on Alabama" tag or the new "God Bless America" tag.
Governor Riley used the fifth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks to unveil the design of the "God Bless America"tag Monday. The ceremony was held at a Prattville fire station and was attended by more than 50 law enforcement officers and firefighters.
The new tag features a waving American flag in the background and "God Bless America" across the bottom. Riley says it's a simple statement, but it has guided the country for over 200 years.
State Representative Steve Hurst came up with the idea for the tag and got the Legislature to approve it in April.
The tag was designed by the state Revenue Department. It will sell for the same price as a standard "Stars Fell on Alabama" tag.
The nice thing is this tag is considered a "STANDARD TAG", you can choose to get the normal state tag or the "God Bless America" tag for the standard fee.

The ACLU is calling him right now.
Indiana has approved an "In God We Trust" license plate. I plan on getting one.
Ah shucks, looks like they done give up on "Heart of Dixie'. The whole dang country gonna look like the same homogenized, fas'food, Interstate Highway, middle o' the road society soon. Pass the pigs feet honey, I feel like doing som'thing southern while I still ken.
TN has a tag with "God Bless America" and the American Bald Eagle. It's a real beauty!!

The one on the right (of course :) has been on my van the three years.
Actually the God Bless tag has the HEART OF DIXIE inside the heart next to ALABAMA.
Great Tag, but I also love my "Choose Life" tag!
I like the tag but also think the timing is a bit suspect; after all, it is almost re-election time for Gov. Riley. How better to wrap one's self in the flag than to have folks pay for it's manufacture and then pay a tax to display it and he gets credit for it. Pretty slick.
Same thing, if you think about it.
