A large meteor, typically looking like a fireball crossing the sky. They can be spectacular, sometimes you can hear them when they go by or hit the ground and explode.

Saw one in 1963 at 5:00 in the morning over Wilkes-Barre PA. Was delivering my papers and heard a rushing noise looked up and HOLY COW !!
