UCSB DIPLOMAT-IN-RESIDENCE BARBARA BODINE AWARDED HIGHEST STATE DEPARTMENT HONOROctober 18, 2001
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell presented the State Department's Distinguished Honor Award to Ambassador Barbara K. Bodine in ceremonies held in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 12.
The award is the highest given by the State Department.
A career diplomat with 27 years of service, Bodine most recently served as U.S. Ambassador to Yemen from her appointment by President Clinton in September 1997 to Aug. 30 this year. In receiving her award, Bodine was cited for her "courage, leadership and diplomacy in promoting America's most cherished values and in coping with the aftermath of the bombing of the USS Cole."
Bodine is on sabbatical from the State Department and serving as Diplomat-In-Residence at UCSB's Global and International Studies Program. A UCSB alumnae, she is also president of the Board of Directors of the UCSB Alumni Association.
See what I mean!!
She was brought back to state by the pubbies and that surprised me.
On one website she was described as always working for the conservative good ole boys, republicans. That shocked me.
so the truth about her isn't all out there.
She was career state dept before Clinton appoiinted her to Amb to Yemen.
