It was a great system. We set up a government agency to manage the personal property of American citizens who were now displaced from their property...much of which had been highly successful farms and small businesses that competed well in their communities.

This agency would hire people to run these businesses and oddly enough, most of them would suddenly become unproductive to the point where they could no longer pay the property taxes owed.

The property would then be sold off at public auction and whatever proceeds remaining after paying the delinquent taxes would go to the American family that had just been robbed.

The kicker...many people involved with the oversight of the program became very wealthy.
