Quwation for those who do take cruises...
What do you actually do on a cruise?
I can't imagine doing it for fun.
I've never actually been on one, but I hear there's a lot of eating, drinking, and sex (B.Y.O.P. and otherwise).
The ports of call are just little diversions in between bouts of the above.

Ours had numerous shore excursions; we spent whole days exploring the cities we visited. In St. Petersburg there was a full day at the Hermitage, and an evening of opera at the Yusupov Palace, among other things. Series, if you have not been on a cruise, take one. You will be surprised. Eat 24/7, gambling (we don't), shows, dancing, sunsets, sunrises, and sex in between. We've been on several over the last 10 years. Alaska, South Pacific were the best.
I really don't know myself. I have family who goes on them and they say the food is great and they love dressing up. They claim its totally relaxing. To me it sounds boring. I would get bored and want to get off within hours. I won't go on one.
