In 1970, after Kent State, Mayor John V. Lindsey ordered the flag on city hall lowered to half staff around 11AM. In no time, thousands of construction workers from the building site of the WTC and thousands of other men converged on city hall to protest this. A postal worker somehow got to the roof and raised the flag to full staff to the cheers of the throng. Pace college students who were on the roof of the college across Park Row began yelling, jeering and throwing garbage on the men in front of City Hall. As the mass moved across Park Row and through the now non-existant plate glass windows of Pace College, the cops kept looking up at the flag on top of city hall, whistling!
