That is one of my automatic "Won't vote for him" issues.
I second that.

Give the average American voter more credit for common sense.Right.
Clinton -- twice.
Bush -- twice.
As the man said, "Common sense isn't common."

The social right as of now doesn't have a varsity player and it's later in the game then folks want to admit.Bingo. I'm a social conservative, and I think you're absolutely correct.

....and raises questions of your conservatism.
I'm a fiscal-libertarion/conservative. I'm interested in how the primaries are developing and so far I like what I see.
I am not a social conservative. If that excludes me from your little club ..fine go tell the mods to zot me.

LOL, sure.... somebody from Massachusetts will carry the South.

Like it or not, Newt is the candidate.
I don't want to argue about it, just wait and see.

I think people in this discussion are going to have to realize that there is no perfect candidate. It would be better to have a candidate that you disagree on with a couple of issues get elected than for Al Gore or Hillary to become President.
Personally, I think Newt would be the best conservative candidate. But I don't think he is electable. So I have to defer to Mitt Romney or Rudy. Both of them are electable though I disagree with them on several issues. But if we can get a campaign promise from them to only appoint strict constructionist judges like CJ Roberts and AJ Ailito, then I can live with them. Newt should be VP though.

We are electing a President here...not a pig in a poke.Clinton, Carter, LBJ and JFK . . . just in my lifetime and that doesn't even include some pretty bad Republicans.
The Mormon thing with Mitt bothers me not a whit. Clinton finished third behind Perot in Utah, as I recall.
The Liberal thing bothers me a lot more. But the guy does have way more balls than most moderate Republicans-- one of the things I grudgingly have to admire about our senior senator from PA.

Mitt may be better than McCain and Guliani but why are those two rino's the standard all of a sudden?? Mitt is a rino too he is anti-2nd amendment and has no business being president. Besides the rats would rip him to pieces because of being a mormon.
We have a rat governor in Az because her opponent (Matt Salmon) in the last election would not defend himself against the lefts attacks on his being a mormon.

If you think Romney has two positions, why not post them both and let people decide for themselves Usually the Mitt-worshippers will post plenty of "Mitt is SO pro-life and he has nice teeth!" nonsense, but I post his pro-abortion history since his supporters are unwilling to admit to it and try to deny it or cover it up.
To my knowledge, Mitt has not made any unequivocal pro-life statements -- he's tried to pass himself off as pro-life several times, but always with weasel words like "I wish" or "ideally" so he's free to continue playing both sides. Presumably he thinks if he avoids taking any strong pro-life stands he can get away with playing pro-life through the primaries and then move back toward pro-choice for the general election.

Roe V. Wade will not be overturned by the next President, especially if it's a democrat. Ford didn't do it, Reagan didn't do it, niether did Bush Senior. This will NOT be the main issue of 2008.

Michigan is a mixed bag but I don't think it's "deep blue." It isn't. If the fraudulent votes were subtracted President Bush was the winner.
The problem here is almost nothing is done in between elections to cull the voter lists and prosecute the felons.

I'm a fiscal conservative too. I just don't run around promoting liberals to be the GOP nominee for Prez. The primaries haven't started yet and no one has even announced their candidacy.
Thanks for clarifiying you're being a social liberal. Now I understand why you support Giuliani. Just for the record, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Giulinai IS NOT a fiscal conservative.
