I don't believe that 45% of the US population have actually lost their minds.
I would say that somewhere between 5-10% of the population are suffering from severe BDS, but not 45%.

If you don't believe me, just go to any high traffic driver's license office (or anywhere else where everyone has to go eventually...) and do your own mental calculations. The results will alarm you.

1. Almost nobody answers a land-line, home phone anymore -- and of those few who do, many are unrepresentative of the general public.
2. Pollsters are free to commit fraud most of the time. The only time liberal media pollsters feel constrained to be accurate, out of concern for their own credibility, is in the period immediately preceding an election.
