I got Rush's commentary on Malkin's site. I sure wasn't going to give SeeBS any air time.

If you look at the advertising on the news it is geared towards an older audience.....much older.
Going from a Dan Rather to the Perky One would not be good for the heart. I can just hear my grandfather wondering out loud what the heck this broad was doing on the news. He wouldn't know Katie from Martha Stewart and would think it was the morning show gone wild.

I think you've mentioned this before, but all one has to do to assess any TV programs' viewership is to evaluate the commercial content. While there are lots of ads for prescription drugs, you don't see many for loan (re)financing, auto/truck sales, etc (typical NFL fare) ie ads directed at people living in the here & now.
Nightly broadcast news is lilterally on its last legs.

One cannot place a cheerleader behind a desk reading a teleprompter and expect anything else. If it's a young good looking cheerleader not campaigning for Hillary, you can.

Bob Scheiffer got the same results and was a lot cheaper.

I am watching the MSNBC replay of the Today show 9/11/2001 right now. What an absolutely terrible job Katie is doing...didn't anyone at CBS watch this idiot's clueless reporting before hiring her for all that money? Matt Lauer and Al Roker got it right away, Katie is still not believing it even though the Pentagon is being hit right now.
Good grief, what a mess this woman is, she is messing up the entire thing. David Gregory is getting it wrong. Jim Mickle(shtz?) is in the Pentagon and doing a good job. Matt is taking the lead and doing great, lots of information and summary.
This is one of the best reasons to go back and look at the TV shows from that day. Although nobody could really be stellar, Katie is just a damn stupid fool. She should have been fired on the spot.

Her voice is really annoying. I had not noticed that before. Party's over. It sounds to me like she smokes, and then she has the leather skin, which doesn't help.

Same here. I didn't waste time with the "news" program. I just waited a few hours and saw his segment on rushlimbaugh.com.

Yeah, I refuse to watch network news. Saw Limbaugh's piece on YouTube. Good enough for me.

Yeah, well, a liberal bias like CBS news spews out every night DESERVES a last place rating. You don't watch the news do you. I do, but only to see what they are doing.
In the old days of rather, jennings and brokaw, NBC was the least biased (and top rated) and CBS the most biased (and lowest rated).
Since they all left, NBC was the most biased (and lowest rated) with Brian Williams and ABC (charles gibson) and CBS (the old guy) surprisingly unbiased.
Now Abc is the least biased and top rated (probably because big time democrat and former disney ceo Michael Eisner got sacked).

This is the most wonderful irony of all - the grinning star going slowly into the hollywood pergatory of obscurity. After all this hype, she will not be able to go back to being a morning personality. That bridge is burned. After six months of listening to how Katie Couric is much more than a morning show-type, nobody is interested in seeing her back in that role.
She will either have to succeed as the CBS Evening News Anchor, or nothing.
In other words, she's toast.

CBS would probably do better by putting a sitcom in the 6:30 time slot and dropping the news altogether.
