To oust incumbent Sen. Maria Cantwell, it's said that Republican challenger Mike McGavick needs to run a virtually perfect campaign and then hope for Cantwell gaffes and other developments beyond his control.
Lately, though, he's making missteps and Cantwell forces are rushing to blunt his insurgent campaign. But on Friday, the Democratic senator suffered a setback of her own when The Associated Press reported that she helped line up more than $11 million in federal money for projects benefiting the clients of a lobbyist pal who owes her money.

This race has become very unpredictable. Just as McGavick was tanking, the lobbyist scandal has given him an opportunity. The question now is whether he will take advantage of it.

Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
Since you're in Washington state, do you know how much impact Cantwell's $11 million arrangement will damage her?
The voter demographic of Washington has been destoryed by a decade of Californians and east coast liberals moving here in droves. Republican chances of winning anything is about 0. Dino Rossi came close in the governor race, but only because Christine Gregorie is a complete moron and was a trainwreck during her days as a D.A.
The fact that she's in the governors mansion speaks loud and clear what Washington state is about these days.
You could put a drunken monkey on the ballot, and if it had a (D) next to his name, the liberals in Seattle would vote for it.
Cantwell the last time she ran, only won in 5 out of around 40 districts in WA state, but was enough for her to win because Seattle is the only major city in WA State and flooded with transplant liberals from other states. Those 5 districts are all around Seattle.
No idea. The local press will ignore it as much as possible, and the WSRinoP is so "Democrat Lite" they won't do a thing, so my guess is the damage will be minimal.
I'm, unfortunately, guessing Washington will be a R version of Virginia. It might look like we have a chance because of some weird circumstances, but we really don't.
Thats a pretty concise summary of the nature of WA politics these days. Maria Cantwell isn't quite as big a retard as Patty Murray, but the fact that she is a contender at all speaks volumes. Eastern WA needs to seceed from crazy liberal Seattle and the rest of the Puget Sound area.
Just why does WA state hold on to Point Roberts? It should belong to Canada, and giving it up would save Washington $60 million a year.
