At 500 mph you'd travel 88,000 feet in 2 minutes. A powered descent at a 5 degree angle would be more than enough to drop 7000 feet in 2 minutes.

A descent rate of 3,500 fpm in a jet is no big deal. Pull the power back to idle and it will come down facter than that.
