That was my thought: they need to be captured and saved by millions throughout the Internet!

Well, even with QuickTime Pro, the website has set up the QuickTime plug-in settings to disallow saving the content. But that just disables saving it easily from the plug-in itself. It's still possible to save these movies - and it doesn't require any form of QuickTime to be installed on your computer.

The process of saving movie presented this way is a bit of a pain, but here are the steps:

  1. Go to the web page containing the movie of interest. In your web browser, choose the option to "view source";
  2. In the source, look for html code that embeds the movie. It starts off like
    "<object codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab" width="320" classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" height="272"><param name="src" value=" http://media.revver.com/broadcast/58763/video.mov/17926" />" blah blah blah;
  3. You see that "http:" link after the "src" parameter? That's the file we want to grab - now we just have to create some HTML that links directly to this file!;
  4. (version a) Create a basic HTML file, one with all the essential tags in it, that's ready for you to type web content in to; or more creatively...
  5. (version b) Go to FR, find a post, hit the reply button, and you'll have a "virtual" HTML text editor in the "Your Reply" field;
  6. Enter the following HTML code into whichever option you chose above:

    <a href="http://media.revver.com/broadcast/58763/video.mov">Control-Click or Right-Click Here to Download Movie</a>

  7. If you chose option a, save the file, and open it in a web browser;
  8. If you chose option b, click the "Preview" button on FR's reply window;
  9. In either case, you'll now see a web page with a link that looks like this:
    Control- or Right-Click Here to Download Movie
  10. Control Click (Mac) or Right-Click (Windows) to get a pop-up menu. Choose the choice that says "Download linked file to hard drive".
  11. Repeat for each clip. It isn't so bad after the first clip, trust me.

Like I said, it's a pain, but that's how I got all 6 clips onto my hard drive, where the Congressional Democrats can't work to censor them.
