It was 8 months but when did Bush get all his cabinet in their post? With ALgore dragging out the election and the dems dragging their feet with the confirmations how long did he really have?

I think it's actually hard to calculate the number of months that Bush actually had before 9/11. But you make an excellent point. The whole transition was slowed because of Democrat refusal to accept electoral reality. Further the condition of the White House itself was a mess. People who steal "w's" of computers and leave pornography about do not usually keep very good records. Further, as we know many Clintonistas retreated into the civil service to places like State, CIA, Pentagon, etc where they continued their mischief with civil service union protections. Blaming Bush for 9/11? Please. In the 8 months after he survived that election chqllenge he had to deal with a Chinese attack which downed one of our plances and Jumpin' Jim Jeffords handing the Senate back to the Rats. Distractions? Sure but certainly understandable and hardly comparable to Billy's Monica distraction.

Good point. Also, Bush had the Chinese-spy plane crisis to deal with, which had to have taken up a lot of time and attention.
