Is the China Airlines 747-400 that is being converted the one that was involved in a tail strike in the 1990's? They had a 747-200 that disintegrated in the midair in 2002 and had been improperly repaired years before after it too had been involved in a tail strike.

Well, according to Tex Johnston, any aircraft can do a barrel role if the pilot is gentle enough and doesn't pull too many G's.

I wouldn't want to be the one to try it though.
