"I just don't believe it," the president insists. "I believe the Republicans will end up being--running the House and the Senate. Even if that happens I'll point out that the Republicans have been running the House and Senate and White House for six years and have done squat about cutting spending, fixing Social Security, stemming illegal immigration, or reducing government. Why on earth should we expect that to suddenly change, especially in light of the fact that even if the GOP retains control of both Houses it will most likely be with reduced majorities? Sometimes I see comments like this coming out of the President's mouth and I wonder if anyone is home up there.

Dubya and Rove are pretty smart cats.
They know how they've got an nearly unassailable ally: The Insane and Dangerous
Democratic Party.
This allows them to get away with leaving borders open, invasion of
the country by identity thieves and social-security fraudsters,...
and they know folks will still vote Republican.
Because the alternative is noticably worse.
