I will call and ask her. I'll let you know and thank you for offering.

Type O negative is only found in 7% of the population, while O positive is in 35% of the population.

O's can only receive O's, but from the things I just scanned, O negatives can only receive O negative.

Almost everyone can receive O negative, however -- but it's no longer considered "universal," as it once was.

Okay, here's the scoop as it stands now. They say he needs at least two more pints of blood. They say there is none to be had. They say that it takes three days to "process" donated blood so he wouldn't be able to get any for three days. And that's if they can find donors.

I just talked with Maria and she says they (her husband and her) have definitely decided not to do it tonight and she says they are not going to do it at all unless he gets a lot worse. Meanwhile she is going, tomorrow, to talk with his doctor and tell him there are donors willing to donate, but that they are in different geographical locations. She will get back to me when she has talked with him, hopefully tomorrow.

I thank all of you and hope you will continue to remember Maria's husband in her prayers and those who have an opinion or solution will continue to post to this thread.
