The story quoting her Father-in-law said her head was shaved. If she normally colored her hair, what is left might be darker.
Did the kidnappers shave her hair to shame her for being a woman without a hardscarf? Or did they shave her head to disguise her appearance so they could smuggle her out of the country for prostitution?
I just finished reading "The Haj," by Leon Uris. In that book, the Islamic father shaved off his daughter's hair to humble her and to insure that she would wear a veil in public. Does anyone know if this is a common Islamic practice?
