Beijing Hints Kim Jong-il to Visit After All

China has hinted that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il may visit the country after all, two days after officially denying it.

Asked about persistent rumors that Kim is or will soon be in China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Thursday, "China and North Korea have traditionally maintained friendly relations, and the leaders of the two nations have visited each other's countries. If we hear any news about visits to be paid by high-ranking government officials of the two countries that you are interested in, we will let you know in a good time.” Qin added Beijing was “working on developing our friendly cooperative relationship with North Korea” which “serves our mutual interest and contributes to peace and stability in the region.”

The remarks are strikingly similar to what the ministry said when Kim visited China in April 2004 and January 2006.

"Kim Jong-il has liver and heart problem, and is seriously diabetic, causing him to have a walking problem."

He's on the way out

Re #3

If Clinton or Gore is U.S. President now, Kim could have been at Harvard by now. Maddie, Robert Reich, and Alan Dershwitz could be seen shaking hands with him, in addition to Hitlery, Slick, and Al Bore.

Happy days are here again! Smiling faces all around. Useless pieces of paper, signed for the cameras.

I think someone called Rush yesterday with the following observation: Today, people don't FEEL safer but the ARE safer. In the 90's people FELT safe but weren't safe at all.

Re #8

Does Chris Hill bring a machete with him? It will be handy if Chris can confront Kim personally. Chris can show to the whole world that there is indeed a man at the Foggy Bottom.:)
