The Path To Bill Clinton’s Legacy By Jenni Vinson Trejo September 8, 2006
When Michael Moore hit the big screen with his version of the events leading up to 9-11, he played fast and loose with little things like the feelings of those affected by 9-11, people’s reputations, and the truth in general. Democrats didn’t mind it when Michael Moore insinuated, suggested and outright stated that George W. Bush was a hapless, clueless mass who fumbled the events before during and after the attack of 9-11. Moore even went so far as to accuse the President of masterminding the attack along with the Arabs.
But, according to Democrats, that whole Michael Moore era in this nation was fair because—uh—it wasn’t happening to them. Had Michael Moore attacked the Clintons, there would have been hell to pay.
Now we have ABC trying to capitalize on the five anniversary of the attack on 9-11. Everyone is giddy about how they are going to commemorate this milestone. ABC decided to air one of their infamous movies of the week: “The Path To 9-11” They put together a five-hour miniseries that dramatizes a decade's worth of events leading up to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It will air commercial-free on ABC Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. EDT (with a 9/11-related follow up from ABC News at 10 p.m. Monday).
Like everyone else trying to drum up viewers, ABC teased its audience with excerpts of the upcoming show. Apparently, the Clinton’s got a hold of an advanced copy and they hit the roof.
Now let’s remember that ABC has been All ‘Bout Clinton since they met him. ABC is a Liberal entity. They would not have gone out of their way to sway a story in opposition to the Clintons or the Democrats. It seems to me that what happened is that they simply were not able to sway this story AWAY from hurting the Clintons and the Democrats because too many of us are still alive. We ALL lived through the events of 9-11 and still remember clearly what happened before and during that event. It’s seared in our hearts and minds.
So, ABC had to tell it like it happened, much to the ire of the Clintons who are demanding that ABC cancel the viewing. How dare ABC commit to film that the Clinton administration was too distracted by the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal to deal properly with the gathering threat posed by Islamic militants? How dare they say Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright argued that attacking anyone during the sexual scandal would seem opportunistic? How dare they say that former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger also argued against making any counter moves against Bin Laden and AlQueda when they had the chance? They were too busy setting up their defense to have any kind of offense. The Path to 9-11 leaves a clear path to yet another pothole in the path to Bill Clinton’s precious legacy. He has worked so hard to find one to replace the legacy he earned as being the President who lied under oath about an illegal affair her had with a White House subordinate and how that all got him impeached. Now poor ABC has Senators issuing warnings to them from the floor of the senate while the Clintons and all of their minions come back out retirement (those who aren’t in jail, that is) to demand that ABC pull the plug on 9-11. You see we all need to understand that 9-11 is no longer about an attack on America, the deaths of thousands of civilian citizens or of how America picked herself up from all that rubble to move on. It’s not about any of that anymore. Now it’s all about the Clinton’s—Bill’s legacy and Hillary’s 2008 Presidential run. All of this has been so important to them that Sandy Berger stuffed documents related to how he and his bosses carried out the terrorists and pre-9-11 cards they got dealt. If there was nothing wrong in what the Clinton’s did, what did Berger bother to steal them and destroy them? All those “brains” in the Clinton camp and none of them have quite put together that the more they clamour, the more we want to see this ABC mini series. We should all stock up on tissues, pledge to watch or listen to something or just plain sit down and think about the events of 9-11. We should take the time to thank God for this nation’s safety and for the men and women at war and on our own streets who have kept us from another attack.
