6AM PDT, got in the car, flipped on Hot Talk 560 KSFO for the Lee and Melanie (Morgan) show. Heard Peter Jennings, immediately knew something was wrong. Within one minute realized it was a plane strike on the WTC. Unlike the lib newsies, after considering a repeat of the WW2 bomber collision with the Empire State Building, I said no way, this is an attack. By the time Jennings reported the second plane striking (at this point I was about 1/2 way to work) I was already thinking war. By the time the Pentagon was hit I said to myself too bad I'm an old fart otherwise I'd get to enlist.
Thank you for this thread and the links to our first threads, I was hunting for them, when I found your thread.

Never Forget ping...
It is the 11th anniversary of September 11, 2001, 6 hours from the moments that changed the world. It will once again be a sunny day and will be the second Tuesday of September. Eleven years ago, it was primary day in New York and many people were saved because they decided to vote that morning. That Primary Day was taken from us. Today should be Primary Day, but will not be. Even as we try to ignore the ideology of the people who attacked us, and revise history for the children, we Bin Laden a posthumous victory by once again deferring our elections.
The governor and legislature have it backwards. We should honor those who perished by voting and reminding the world that we are still New Yorkers. We should honor the sacrifices and tragedies by facing the war head on and not forgetting or looking away. We owe that to the noble dead and to our children, who will also fight this conflict.
