Hillary Clinton 2008 Presidential campaign caught up in Spiderman's web? Peter Paul vows to end Hillary Clinton's political career Gambling911.com has learned that the Washington Times plans to revive media focus on the landmark civil fraud suit now scheduled for trial against former President Bill Clinton on March 27, 2007, with Hillary Clinton allegedly a co-conspirator. Sportsbook.com, which offers betting odds on the 2008 Presidential race with Hillary Clinton a 3 to 1 favorite of winning (every $1 bet would pay out $3), is not expected to make any changes to these odds over the next few weeks. See Sportsbook.com here ----> Who is Peter Paul? Paul emerged in 2000 as an ardent supporter of Senatorial candidate Hillary Clinton. Paul and his attorneys have at various times offered two explanations for this. First, that he was trying to attract her husband, then-President Bill Clinton, to serve on the board of Stan Lee Media after leaving office. Second, that he hoped to negotiate a pardon for his previous criminal convictions. Paul produced and underwrote what he described as the largest fund raising event ever held for a federal candidate, in Los Angeles, days before the 2000 Democratic Convention began. The "Hollywood Farewell Gala Salute to President William Jefferson Clinton" featured prominent entertainers singing for the President, while raising over $1 million for Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign. According to a report featured in Wikipedia, the event cost over $2 million to organize, much of it borrowed fraudulently by Paul from Merrill Lynch. Later indictments would make clear that Merrill Lynch lost about $5 million it had lent to Paul. An individual close to Paul denies this and insists the Wikipedia bio is written by someone who has it out for Peter Paul, specifically one Clinton Acolyte. "These statements are false. Merrill Lynch did not lose any money and this was a red herring- Paul was never charged with fraudulent borrowing- he was charged with stock manipulation intended to save his company from the effects of Bill Clinton's interference with his company's funding., which he pled guilty to in March 05." From WorldNetDaily.com: "Paul alleges, the former president's agent diverted a key investment away from Paul's company and it failed in the dot-com meltdown several years ago. Now his lawsuit against Clinton and others for allegedly conspiring to destroy his $200 million Internet business is moving forward, with a motion to file a second amended complaint. "A hearing on that motion, submitted to the court today, is scheduled Sept. 25, officials with the United States Justice Foundation told WorldNetDaily. |

Paul also claims to have made huge contributions to Hillary Clinton's campaign for New York State Senator after being told by the Clinton's representative that the former President agreed to work with Paul after leaving the White House. How Spiderman Might Foil Hillary's Campaign for President According to reports, Lee befriended Peter Paul, who supervised the negotiation of a non-exclusive contract with Marvel Comics for the first time in Lee's lifetime employment with Marvel. This enabled Paul and Lee to start the new Internet-based superhero creation, production and marketing studio, Stan Lee Media, in 1998. It grew to 165 people and went public, but near the end of 2000, investigators discovered illegal stock manipulation by Paul and corporate officer Stephan Gordon. Stan Lee Media filed for bankruptcy in February 2001, and Paul fled to São Paulo, Brazil. He was extradited back to the U.S., and pled guilty to violating SEC Regulation 10(b)5 in connection with trading of his stock in Stan Lee Media. Lee was never implicated in the scheme. Impact on a Possible Presidential Campaign "This could just be a case of sour grapes," commented Gambling911.com Political Analyst, Payton O'Brien. "Still, this type of negative exposure and affiliation with Paul can't exactly help Clinton's campaign either. They (The Clintons) have overcome much worse though throughout Bill Clinton's presidency." The Washington Times is a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Washington, D.C., United States. Though frowned upon by many in the journalism community (i.e. underlying religious posture is often cited), committed American conservatives have greatly welcomed the publication as an alternative to mainstream news. O'Brien surmises we will witness various changes in the odds of Hillary Clinton becoming the next President of the United States and that these odds will reflect public opinion for the most part. "First Hillary (Clinton) has to announce her intentions to run," O'Brien said. "Then as we get closer to election year and both the Republican and Democratic parties come out swinging, we should witness a constant change in odds for all candidates. Right now 3 to 1 could be a good bet since Hillary may ultimately end up being posted as a big favorite that does not pay out as handsomely once the candidate pool has been dwindled down." --- Christopher Costigan, www.gambling911.com Originally published September 6, 2006 9:56 pm EDT
