When my dad called me to tell me that the Pentagon had been hit, I shuddered and thought that we would be "going nuclear" by the end of the day. I didn't know what to think.

You reminded me...there was bombing going on in Iraq that night. I told my boys that I hoped it WAS us. I cannot remember who was bombing Iraq.

You are correct - we did launch some fairly robust military action in Iraq the day before and on 9/11 unrelated (?) to the events unfolding here.
