all that could be done, has been done. we can't expect the President to fight the war all alone - with the entire judiciary against him, and Congress unwilling to pass needed laws, and on and on. Bush pursued this to the end, what do you want him to do now?
He has challenged Congress here - he has served up the worst of the captured terrorist bunch, 9/11 plotters, and is telling Congress "what rights would you like to give them?".
We know where the Dems are on this, and unfortunately in the Senate, there are many republican weak hands on this issue, led by McCain and Graham. That's the reality we are dealing with.
It wasn't my intent to fault Bush in regard to this matter. He has been fighting a multifront war, especially since he had the audacity to win re-election in '04. A a major front in that war is the domestic partisan war that has been declared against the person of George W. Bush, largely motivated and exacerbated by borderline insanity of personal hate in the service of partisan politics.
