LOL!
and bitter-truth bump.
"Basically, what you desire is not going to happen, and if the Dem's take the house, the borders will swing wide open so they can mine for new voters."
Bush doesn't care....he's made it quite clear that he has no problem with Dems taking the house OR open borders....otherwise he'd be listening to the American people and doing everything possible, since 9/11, to secure them.
"Not to mention the fact that a wide open border plays right in to the hands of Al-Qaeda."
Funny thing....the OBL's seem to forget this important factoid everytime they assert themselves to protect Bush, cheap labor, and new votes.
Amen
the open border folks will get the last laugh, as will the new Democrat majority.
We have no business in the majority in any case. We continue to act like a minority party over issues like immigration, Shiavo, Dubai and Social Security...you cannot lead the country if you can't get out of your own way.
Now we can't seem to hold it together for a very important strategic war.
I get no pleasure from watching folks smack their heads repeatedly against a solid wall, but that wall may well get much thicker by the time this election cycle comes to a end. Much thicker indeed.
It would make sense to do some introspection and compromise, but that would indeed make sense, and I doubt that making sense is much of a priority any longer.
Lou Dobbs and skinheads - guilt by association, eh? You forgot to mention that a prominent skinhead conducted "Operation Wetback" in the 1950's (he totally opposed illegal immigration and talked how immigration corrupted law enforcement and politicians) - he was bald and his name was Ike Eisenhower. Dobbs and Eisenhower have the same opinions on illegal immigration, President Eisenhower was bald, therefore, to use your logic, Dobbs is aligned with skinheads.
The President and RINOs in the Senate cause gridlock by blocking House enforcement measures.
"Going underground" is a awfully cute phrase, but meaningless, especially when you're talking about 20 million workers working "underground".
The congress has tabled anything about immigration with the impending election. This is disturbing. It sounds like they are afraid to do before the election what they intend to do after the election, presumably because if they do they won't get reelected.
Not likely any of them really want to live in the US with a bunch of Mexican federales around.
No they did not...
The House refused to pick conferees, which resulted in no conference and thus, no bill to sign.
Unfortunately, the corporations and businesses all over the country who utilize and benefit hugely from cheap foreign labor and illegal workers are donating heavily to the GOP.
I personally have several friends, including a restaurant owner, who are local businessmen that hire Mexicans only now.
These heavy-hitter corporate donors and the small business contributors with a vested interest ubndoubtedly more than make up for the loss of the "under-100-bucks" contributions scraped up by us fully-documented-peons.

I guess you have no clue as to how businesses are regulated, and how many are out of the loop. These business ventures are referred to as being underground. There are more and more each week, and they comprise the bulk of illegal employment, like those guys on the corner.
That may be so, but it is not enough.
No immigration reform can honestly be called "comprehensive" if it doesn't address anchor babies.
