On the morning of 9/11/01, our nation awoke to a nightmare attack. 19 men with boxcutters took control of airplanes and turned them into missiles. We watched the Twin Towers collapse before our eyes and we entered a new world and a dangerous new war.
Americans saw the destruction and wondered if there were other terrorist cells in our midst poised to strike. With the Twin Towers and Pentagon still smoldering and a stream of intelligence coming in about new attacks, the administration faced immediate challenges.
We had to wage an unprecedented war against an enemy unlike any before.
