Davis won a concession from state Sen. Rod Smith, who trailed 47 percent to 41 percent with 96 percent of precincts reporting. Davis' opponent in November will be Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist, who claimed the Republican nomination to replace Bush.

The horrific circumstances surrounding Terri Schiavos death exposed a problem in the law. When she succumbed to starvation and dehydration after 13 days, pro-lifers vowed to never let it happen again. Now Nebraskans will vote on an initiative that says the same. Carrie Gordon Earll is with Focus on the Family Action responds. There have been a half-dozen states or so that have introduced this legislatively but this is the only one that were aware of thats on the ballot in November.
