A worthwile list of guests on Imus today.
Jay Barbree is the guy to listen to concerning anything space program related. Interesting shortly that after his interview a Fox News Alert for 3 more pieces of debris found floating near the shuttle. I thought NORAD tracked all space junk.
It got a little confrontational when Imus told McCain "you want everything don't you". McCain handled it well on screen but who knows what happened after he hung up the phone. I also found it interesting that Imus went on to another subject Iran and midway through that subject McCain came back to the Terrorist Protection Bill. It was like he needed to further dig himself out of the whole he has dug.
Never fear Mary Matilin is here to save the day.

Well, all I know is what I've been taught by people who have studied the doctrines. And they had sources from the Catholic Church itself that caused them to teach this.
If the Pope makes an official pronouncement as to doctrinal matters of the Church, thereby claiming inherent infallibility since the Pope is believed to be the Vicar, or spokesman, of Christ, on earth, then his words are considered infallible as if they were Christ's words.
But if the Pope is just talking, or writing a letter, or giving a lecture and it doesn't fall under this category, then, infallibility of every word spoken is not claimed.
That's what I THINK I know, but I'm asking for input from others to confirm or deny it.

He had his points to get across and he wasn't going to let the direction of the questions get in the way.

See, Miss Marple confirmed it for me in her post #498. Interestingly, her understanding of it makes it - the act of speaking ex cathedra - even more narrow in actual practice than I realized. She says it's rarely done. And only then is when absolute infallibility is claimed...

Back to the cause at hand...I am so thoroughly disgusted with the McCainiacs and General Powell that I can barely control my anger at them.
Who do these few self-annointed ones think they are??!!
How dare they mess with OUR security and OUR nation like they were a cabal or a junta or almost G-d like in their power and, yes, ironically, infallibility!!!!!

The amazing Ann Coulter has pointed out to us the technique of people being innoculated against criticism or claiming special moral authority which cannot then be questioned by others because of some fact in their lives, like having worn a uniform. We are not allowed to use our intellect to consider or disagree with their arguments, not because of the strength of those arguments, but because of who they are. This does not work for me.

Ouch, did Mary Matalin club Imus around like a baby seal or what? It will be interesting to see how long it is before he brings her on again. She was whipping his @ss so bad on every topic he got into that he had to bring in Bernie to tag team her.
The comment about her being gone for 6 weeks and comes back and he looks like rapunzel with the long golden hair was hilarious. Apparently her daughters came up with that depiction
Imus's final comment to her "get back on your broom and fly back into the house" in which she responded "love ya Don".

Although I don't always agree with Ann Coulter, she is absolutely correct about this trick the left uses. You can't criticize the Jersey Girls because they lost their husbands on 9/11. You can't criticize Cindy Sheehan because she lost her son in the Iraq War. You can't criticize Murtha because he was a marine, nor Kerry because he served in Viet Nam. And of course, John McCain is sacrosanct because he was a POW.
What is even ore infuriating is that once these folks get their protected victim status conferred on them by the Rats and the MSM, they proceed to say the most outrageous, insulting, vindictive things with the knowledge no one will challenge them.
I think we need to start speaking up more about this, beecause I'm not buying their immunity from criticism, either!

It got a little confrontational when Imus told McCain "you want everything don't you". Many a truth is said in jest.
I spent the better part of an hour trying to find the transcript of Foxnews Sunday of 9/17 to be sure I heard correctly. Brit pointed out that McCain wanted certain verbiage in the Terrorist Protection Bill last year which the WH consented to and now it's not enough to please McCain. He added that unless McCain changes his stance and reaches an agreement with the WH, his "front runner status" will be lost.
When did he become a 'front runner' and is foxnews following in the footsteps of the MSM in annointing both McCain and Hillary?

His frontrunner status has been conferred on him by some polling. I don't remember the details.
But I think one showed him tieing or slightly beating Hillary. I can't recall but seems like Rudy did as well or maybe better, but some experts think McCain can get the nomination but Rudy can't because of his Liberalism on all the social issues.
The thing is, if there was even a poll of Republicans for their favorite for President and McCain came out first (and I think there might have been), you have to notice that those for somebody other than McCain add up to more than those for him. Easily.
So he isn't that popular but is a known name and the field of possible candidates is large so the "votes" are very split at this stage.
The MSM including FNC just doesn't get it about the base of the party and McCain. Are they in for a shock!

I agree.
The MSM is ludicrous for trying to shove this (that the "annointed ones" are above criticism) down our throats.
Did you hear McCain on Imus when he was asked about Aminanutjob of Iran? He actually started babeling something about how the guy is more influential than his predecessors, despite the Mullahs reputation for wielding all the power there, BECAUSE HE'S GETTING TO BE MORE AND MORE POPULAR WITH THE IRANIAN PEOPLE.
In effect, McCain was building this guy up.
Unbelievable!

Just heard on WJR's local show about a company in Windsor that sends people to the States for health care.
International Health Care Providers can make arrangement's for MRI's, knee and hip replacements.
Guess they can get the ball rolling the same day, paid out of pocket, but OHIP may cover also.
Eight month wait for an MRI, Three year wait for knee/hip replacement.
People want government health care, to lighten the burden for the big three's health care. Yeah right!!
To: Springman
I have no idea why some keep calling for government controlled health care when we can see it does not work.

Guess it has been done by the US Government yet, guess we can do it better than Canada!! s/
One of the talking points I keep hearing on Detroit radio is that health care costs more, per car sold, than steel in that car. Also Japan has national health care, and they can sell cars for less and make money.
Guess those people forget about the plants in the US that the Japanese have.

This is an abbreviated daily ping for Thursday Sept. 21, 2006.
Imus's guests.
6:30 - Michael Graham - not much to comment about.
7:30 - Chris Matthews - Started off boring, but as the interview went on Lard Ball started sounding depressed that it looks like the house and senate may remain in the hands of the republicans because of Pres. Bush's recent visibility. He criticized the democrats for "not having a plan". The he said the MSM has forgot about the war. It should be on TV every day. By the end of the interview he sounded like a defeated man. Woo Hoo!
8:00 Bahbah's favorite celebrity Diedre Imas was on. Don't know what she's humping today, but Pres. Clinton's was there wishing it was him.
Got to agree with E. D. Hill's opinion that we should kick the U.N. out of town after Chavez's tirade last night. John Bolton was on, but didn't catch any of it.

During the Diedre Imus interview the subject turned to the Dixie Chicks. Diedre started defending Natalie Maines latest comments about president Bush asking if they were taken out of context. Sounded like Diedre has a personal relationship with "the Hugo Chavez of country music" as Charles put it.

NY Daily News ^ | 09-21-06 | Editorial May your prayers be answered, Señor Chavez. May the United Nations leave New York for residence in Venezuela, so very far from the diplos' lush and cushy berth on the East Side. The sorry organization isn't worth the gridlock. You're more than welcome, please, to take the atrophied, self-abasing remains of a global ideal 2,100 miles to Caracas, where you can play the messianic oil baron game to your heart's content with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, fresh in from Tehran, perhaps with a dirty bomb in his suitcase. You can take the UN, and you can shove it - there. And you...

Also my wife just told me that someone on Imus said "Pat Buchanan is such a hard liner he probably wouldn't have let Christopher Columbus in". Get er done.
