Does the United States have the power to eliminate terrorists and the states that support them? In terms of capacity, as opposed to will, the answer is a clear yes. Think about it. Currently, the U.S. has an arsenal of 18 Ohio class submarines. Just one submarine is loaded with 24 Trident nuclear missiles. Each Trident missile has eight nuclear warheads capable of being independently targeted. That means the U.S. alone has the capacity to wipe out Iran, Syria or any other state that supports terrorist groups or engages in terrorism -- without risking the life of a single soldier. Terrorist supporters know we have this capacity, but because of worldwide public opinion, which often appears to be on their side, coupled with our weak will, we'll never use it. Today's Americans are vastly different from those of my generation who fought the life-and-death struggle of World War II. Any attempt to annihilate our Middle East enemies would create all sorts of handwringing about the innocent lives lost, so-called collateral damage.

Proudly not reading beyond the excerpt (I'll soon step out on the rainy driveway to pick up my copy of the WT), but I don't by this "Today's Generation" and "my generation" crap any more. Today's generation is a "Greatest Generation" just waiting to be led.
Will the West defend itself?
In a nut shell ---- NO!
Not unless the war against liberalism is won first.
Will the West defend itself?
NO ....
There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
Winston Churchill
Good article. Thanks for posting.
the west wil NOT defend itself!!!....when the invasion of the terrorists becomes great and the casualties and destruction are intense...we will have the murtha/pelosi/kennedy party screaming for us to redploy and negotiate....we could just give them michigan/new york/california...but then the muzzies will still want more...and you know what that means....heads will roll.
The West might not, but the SOUTH is willing and able!

Well said.
Response: It does not look too good!
The West may have superior weapons, but it is being defeated the same way the Roman Empire was. First, the elites have lost all principles, patriotism, and affinity for military life. Secondly, the culture is being invaded by hordes of aliens, Islamic and otherwise. Rome let the barbarians within the gates and employed them "to do the work Romans didn't want to do anymore," like being soldiers, because so many Romans wallowed in corrupt fascination with gladiatorial combat, bread and circuses, just like modern Americans.

I think there's a good deal of truth to what you're saying.
I guess one hope is that today's videogame drone kids will become tomorrows warriors - via telepresence and remote operated robots. ;-)
As to the barbarians being let in to do the "menial" work - that is a huge problem. Odds are our grandchildren will be speaking Spanglish...and their grandkids might be speaking Spanish. That is if they're not forced into speaking Chinese.
When the time is right, we will just shrug off the parasites.

We have the capacity to wipe out a foreign enemy.
But the real danger our country faces is the enemy within--insane levels of immigration which allows sleeper cells in to strike us in our homeland. And our "leaders" do nothing about this threat, which is much more serious than any threat we face from abroad.
We must elect a president who will enforce an immigration policy that makes us safer, not more vulnerable. Bush has been a disaster in this regard. We must do better in 2008; no more open-border internationalists.

Plobrem is all the robots will have a label that says "Heche en China"
The hand-wringers can sway opinion now but if there is one more attack on the U.S. as horrific as 9/11 the hand-wringers will be ignored.
