"As regards drafting women, what would be the point . . . "

Because they are already in the military and to keep them from the embarrassment of being in the "Cake And Eat It Too" Brigade.

Well, using that logic we could draft men up to age 42 since they can elist that old and many are "in the fight" or at least deployed. No, the draft would allow the army to raise the standards. The military isn't about allowing anybody to save-face; if it were we wouldn't have the dual standards to begin with.

Dang, did I sleep through the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment?

Let me preface this by my full support of the female VOLUNTEERS in our military.

Sure, by all means draft women. It's bad enough to have a bunch of men who oppose military service (they make such wonderful soldiers), in our military. Let's drag in the country's young females. After all, unwilling women in combat is such a great concept.

What will we do with all the children of teenage mothers, while mom is in boot camp? Oh yeah, the taxpayers will foot the childcare bill. Excuse mothers, and believe me, the birthrate will skyrocket.

IF we are ever in a full out war within our borders, an all-out draft would have to be a possibility. For any other situation, imho, it would cause far more problems than it would solve.
